SingKANA Privacy Policy

SingKANA (the "Service") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the Service.

1. Information We Collect

The Service may collect the following information:

• Access information: server logs such as IP address, browser type, OS information, and access time
• Analytics/statistical information: anonymized statistical information for troubleshooting and understanding usage
• Email address: the email address you provide via the waitlist feature
• Payment information: if you use the Pro plan, payment information (e.g., credit card details) is handled by Stripe. The operator does not directly collect or store card details.
• User ID: an automatically generated identifier stored in cookies to manage usage

Important: For the main feature "text to kana conversion", basic conversion under the Free plan is processed locally in your browser and the content of lyrics/text you enter is not sent to the operator's server. However, for the Pro plan feature "AI Pronunciation Correction" and for PDF practice sheet generation, lyrics/text are sent to the server. For AI Pronunciation Correction, we use OpenAI's API (GPT-4o-mini), and lyrics/text are sent to OpenAI.

2. Purposes of Use

We use collected information for the following purposes:

• Improving quality and responding to issues
• Understanding and analyzing usage of the Service
• Security measures required for operating the Service
• Providing Pro plan announcements/benefits to waitlist users
• Managing Pro plan billing and renewals
• Preventing abuse and enforcing rate limits

3. Retention Period

1. Email address (waitlist): retained until Pro plan notifications are completed or until we receive a deletion request from you.

2. Server logs: retained for a limited period for security purposes and then deleted automatically.

3. User ID (cookie): retained as long as you continue using the Service. You can delete it via your browser settings.

4. Sharing with Third Parties

1. We do not provide user information to third parties except as required by law.

2. However, we may share information in the following cases:

• AI Pronunciation Correction (OpenAI): when using the Pro plan feature "AI Pronunciation Correction", lyrics/text are sent to OpenAI's API (GPT-4o-mini). According to OpenAI's API policy, data sent via the API is not used to train models. Please review OpenAI's privacy policy here.
• Payment processing (Stripe): for processing payments for the Pro plan and one-shot PDF purchases, we share the minimum necessary information (e.g., user ID, email address) with Stripe. Card details are handled directly by Stripe.
• Legal requests: when required by law or requested by courts, police, or other public agencies

5. Cookies

1. The Service uses cookies for the following purposes:

• Storing a user ID (for managing usage)
• Temporary enable flag for Developer Mode (Dev Pro) for development/testing purposes
• Usage analysis (anonymized statistics)

2. Information obtained via cookies does not include information that directly identifies a specific individual.

3. You can refuse cookies via your browser settings, but some features may not function properly.

6. External Services

The Service uses the following external services:

• OpenAI: used for the Pro plan feature "AI Pronunciation Correction". Please review OpenAI's privacy policy here.

• Hosting services: used for operating the Service

These external services may collect information via cookies, etc., and such information is managed under each provider's privacy policy.

7. Security
